Abstract:
Ultra-high temperature oxide crystals, such as MgO, ZrO
2, UO
2 and Lu
2O
3, have important applications in laser, superconductor and nuclear rod. However, they have ultrahigh melting points above 2 300 ℃ and the great challenges in crystal growth include growth technique, crucible, temperature measurement and temperature profile. The recent progress on these crystals was reviewed and the growth techniques were introduced. The technical innovation was discussed for successful growth of super high temperature oxide crystals.
