Research Progress Regarding the Wear Performance of Thermal Sprayed Fe-Based Amorphous Coatings

  • Fe-based amorphous alloy enjoys the advantages of high strength, high hardness, excellent wear resistance, and low cost. However, its application prospect as engineering materials is greatly limited by its intrinsic brittleness at room temperature and limited glass forming ability. The Fe-based amorphous coating prepared by thermal spraying technology can widen the application in the surface protection field of large-size workpieces while retaining excellent properties. In this paper, the thermal spraying techniques of Fe-based amorphous coatings were classified. In addition, the wear performances of Fe-based amorphous coatings were summarized in terms of the internal microstructure and external service environment. Meanwhile, the development trend of Fe-based amorphous coatings was prospected to optimize their structure and properties.
